PURPOSE: An electromagnet for a vehicle is provided to miniaturize an electromagnet of power source for braking and to reduce a diameter of a coil influencing an operation time. CONSTITUTION: An electromagnet for a vehicle contains the following characteristics: a subsidiary opening (S) is formed between a side cover (2) and a flanger (3) and generates the absorbing force together with a main opening (M) between the flanger and a core (4) when a core is excited, where the subsidiary opening has a slope and a step form.
