PURPOSE: A method for providing foreign language teaching service using speech recognition and speech synthesis and system therefor are intended to provide more effective foreign language learning method by applying speech recognition and speech synthesis technologies to a foreign language teaching. CONSTITUTION: In a method for providing foreign language teaching service using speech recognition and speech synthesis and system therefor, the system comprises a terminal(1) such as a personal computer or wire/wireless telephone for allowing a user to connect to a foreign language teaching service; a server for foreign language teaching service(2), which provides a content required in foreign language learning, controls service, and provides a voice sound service in connection with a voice recognition/synthesis and recording server(3) upon request; a voice recognition/synthesis and recording server(3) which recognizes user's phonation, synthesizes voice sound required to provide a voice sound content, records and/or replays user's voice sound, and provides a voice sound service in connection with the server for foreign language teaching service(2); a contents data base(4) required to learn a foreign language; and a voice recognition/synthesis data base(5) required to recognize and synthesize voice sound.
