PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for testing the characteristics of a high speed disc type motor are provided to calculate the characteristics of a motor without using a conventional dynamometer. CONSTITUTION: A method for testing the characteristics of a high speed disc type motor which includes a stator and a rotor comprises the steps of measuring a resistance of the motor and a load resistance, subtracting the resistance loss of the motor from the input of the motor, connecting the load resistance to the winding of an arbitrary phase and calculating the output of the motor, calculating the efficiency of the motor based on the measured values and calculated values.
