PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower residual potential and to enhance photosensitivity by incorporating a specified organic compound as a hole transport agent and an organic compound having a specified inorganic to organic value ratio as an electron transport agent or an electron accepting compound. SOLUTION: A monolayer type organic photosensitive layer containing an electric charge generating agent, a hole transport agent and at least one of an electron transport agent and an electron accepting compound is disposed on an electrically conductive substrate. At least one of organic compounds represented by formulae I and II is contained as the hole transport agent and an organic compound having an inorganic to organic value ratio of 0.3-0.68 and preferably having an organic value of >240 to 1,000 is contained as the electron transport agent or the electron accepting compound. In the formulae, R1 and R2 are each H, alkyl, aryl, aralkyl or alkoxy and may be the same or different.
