PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To uniformly and with high brightness light an entire large-scaled light medium by forming the light medium in a shape, where a material formed by dispersing particles having a refractive index different from that of a base material in the transparent base material which contains a hollow portion. SOLUTION: A light medium 12 is formed into a shape where a material formed by dispersing particles, such as silicone resins, having a refractive index different from that of a base material in the transparent base material such as a polymethyl methacrylate resin contains a hollow portion 13. Thus, both functions, namely a function for scattering incident light (ejecting the incident light uniformly in each direction around the light medium 12) and a function for conducting the incident light (guiding the incident light to the end of the light medium 12 far away from a light source 11), are shared with high degree of sophistication. Using the both functions, the incident light going from the light source 11 into the hollow portion 13 and a non-hollow portion 14 of the light medium 12 (a cylindrical matter containing the hollow portion 13) emitted from the light medium 12 in four patterns (1)-(4).
