PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To bring a reverse voltage being applied to a klystron substantially to zero by supplying a bias current to a pulse transformer in response to occurrence of in-tube discharge and saturating the flux of the pulse transformer in the reverse direction. SOLUTION: Power supply section of a pulse power supply comprises capacitors C1, C2,..., Cm connected in parallel, and a current detector for a klystron 7 connected in series therewith. In-tube discharge of the klystron can be detected because the current increases abnormally upon occurrence of in-tube discharge. When a saturation bias current -Is is supplied, power is returned from an EOL in reverse direction and the flux is invariant even if a current flows through the primary winding reversely, impedance of a transformer becomes 0 and no voltage is induced in the primary and secondary windings. Consequently, power being reflected between a power supply and a load is prevented from flowing over the transformer to apply a reverse voltage to the klystron.
