摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup having high economic efficiency of light, detecting (reproducing) recording information on a medium with high speed/high spatial resolution and being realizable with simple constitution. SOLUTION: This pickup is constituted so that a flexible optical waveguide 41 of a nearly rhabdo-shape is used, and a reflection surface 44 reflecting at least a partial beam propagating through a core 42 in the direction transmitting through a clad 43 is provided on one end side of the optical waveguide 41, and a light shield film 45 shielding transmission of light is formed on the clad surface making the place that the light reflected by the reflection surface 44 transmits through a center, and further, by canceling a part of the light shield film 45 corresponding to the place where the light reflected by the reflection surface 44 transmit through and forming an opening 46 smaller than the wavelength of the light, the optical pickup of a cantilever shape generating the near field light from the lower surface of the tip is realized.
