PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contact-type magnetic head capable of avoiding deterioration of a signal, wearing of a magnetic pole and a short circuit of a magnetic circuit in recording and reproducing by preventing the generation of deflections and air gaps of a magnetic recording medium caused by the positional deviation of a contact pad, even when used in recording and reproducing of a flexible magnetic recording medium such as a floppy disk. SOLUTION: In a contact-type magnetic head 1, in which a magnetic pole pad 10 having a magnetic circuit 12 is provided in a head tip 2 in which a magnetic circuit, is embedded, the magnetic pole pad 10 having the magnetic pole 12 is provided with a flat part at its tip end, a length L1 of the flat part is made to be longer than the assembling accuracy of a support structure for supporting the contact type magnetic head 1. Also, in this case, a transparent part for positioning is preferably provided somewhere in the head tip.
