PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect an angular velocity with good accuracy by fixing the bottom section of a base section to a weight having the mass one time the mass of a four-leg tuning fork or above, and supporting the weight with a structural body having a soft structure against the rotation around the axis of the tuning fork. SOLUTION: This gyroscope has four legs 3 extending in the same direction on a rectangular solid substrate 1, and the legs are manufactured by machining Elinvar via electrical discharge machining. Piezoelectric elements 5 are stuck to the side face sections of the legs 3, and the piezoelectric elements 5 are connected to drive detecting circuits. The substrate 1 is connected to a tungsten solid rectangular weight 17 having nearly the same mass as that of the legs 3, and the weight 17 is connected to a stainless steel gimbal body 19. The gimbal body 19 has a soft structure around an inside square section 21 connected to the weight 17. The gyroscope having good sensitivity, little drift, and good shock resistance and vibration resistance can be obtained. |
