PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary electric machine that can make simple the treatment of the end part of a coil conductor. SOLUTION: At the end part of the core of the stator of a rotary electric machine such as an electric motor, a conductor retention member 20 is arranged, where the conductor retention member 20 retains the end part of a coil conductor 16 where a coil is formed. On the surface of the outer-periphery side of the conductor retention member 20, first and second grooves 30 and 32 are provided, where the first groove 30 is opened outward in the radial direction and is extended in the axial direction, and the second groove 32 is opened outward in the radial direction and is extended in the circumferential direction. In this case, the first groove 30 is provided, corresponding to each magnetic pole 14 and each slots 18. The second groove 32 is provided corresponding to the end part of the coil conductor 16 for each of U, V, and W phases, and the end part (N phase) of the coil conductor 16 at the side of a neural point of each phase. The coil conductor 16 is led to the second groove 32 which is specified for each phase along the first groove 30, and furthermore, is led to a wire connection position for each phase along the prescribed second groove 32 for each phase.
