PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a producing method of a reduced iron pellet having high metallization, excellent strength to collapse and <=4.0 g/cm3 apparent density at a low equipment cost. SOLUTION: In the producing method of the reduced iron pellet, with which iron oxide pellet containing carbonaceous material is heated and reduced to produce the reduced iron pellet having <=0.4 g/cm3 apparent density, and the reduced iron pellet is cooled and recovered, the high temp. reduced iron pellet after heating and reducing, is water-cooled so as to become the average cooling rate from 1500 deg.C/min to 500 deg.C/min during lowering the surface temp. from 650 deg.C to 150 deg.C.
