PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ethylene (co)polymer having excellent moldability and giving a molding having good mechanical properties such as strengths, impact resistance, and rigidity and excellent heat resistance, optical properties, and like properties by homopolymerizing ethylene or copolymerizing ethylene with anα-olefin having a specified number of carbon atoms to form a (co)polymer having specified properties. SOLUTION: Ethylene is homopolymerized or copolymerized with a 3-20Cα-olefin to obtain a (co)polymer having a density of 0.88-0.97 g/cm3, a melt flow rate of 0.01-100 g/10 min, a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) of 1.5-4.0, giving a time vs. elongation viscosity curve having a steep rise of elongation viscosity (strain hardening) in the measurement of elongation viscosity at a constant strain rate, and giving an elusion temperature (>=30 deg.C) vs. eluate amount curve satisfying the relationships: S>=0.5 when d<0.910, and 420×d-381.7<=S when d>=0.910 [wherein S=100×S90/Stotal (wherein S90 is the area of the peak of a component at an elution temperature of 90 deg.C or above; and Stotal is the total area of peaks) and (d) is the density] in continuous temperature-rising elution fractionation.
