PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polybenzoxazole resin excellent in electrical properties, heat resistance, and low water absorption properties by subjecting a polybenzoxazole precursor having specific repeating units to cyclodehydration. SOLUTION: The polybenzoxazole precursor has repeating units represented by formula I (wherein (n) is an integer of 1-1,000; R1 to R6 are each independently F or a fluoroalkyl; R7 and R8 are each H or a monovalent organic group; (i) is an integer of 1-6; and Y is a divalent or higher organic group. The precursor is prepared by condensing a bisaminophenol compound represented by formula II or its derivative (e.g. an ester or ether) with a dicarboxylic acid represented by the formula: HOOC-Y-COOH (wherein Y is a divalent organic group) by the acid chloride method or in the presence of a dehydration-condensation agent (e.g. polyphosphoric acid or dicyclohexyldicarbodiimide). In formula II, (n) and R1 to R8 are each the same as in formula I. |
