PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a transparent substrate bearing an antireflective coating film as a single thin layer composed of at least two kinds of materials differing in refractive index from each other with such a composition as to continuously change in the direction of its thickness to improve its mechanical performance. SOLUTION: This transparent substrate bearing an antireflective coating film can be used as an automotive front glass; wherein the coating film consists of a thin layer based on SiOxNy (x and y are 0-2 and 0-1.33, respectively, changing continuously in the direction of the thickness of the layer; in particular, it is preferable that x increasingly change strictly within a range of 0-2, while y decreasingly change strictly within a range of 1.33-0, at a layer zone disposed in close proximity to the interface between the film and an ambient medium such as air); furthermore, in the coating film, at a layer zone disposed 0-10 nm apart from the above interface, the refractive index of the thin film is designed to be pref. 1.35-1.75, more pref. 1.38-1.70 in order to make the antireflective effect of the thin layer optimum. |
