摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve cost reduction and high accuracy while highly intensifying an outside member of the constant velocity universal joint by simplifying the machining process. SOLUTION: The constant velocity universal joint includes an outside member 1 having a plurality of guide grooves 1b at an inner periphery, an inside member 2 having a plurality of guide grooves 2b at an outer periphery, a torque transmitting ball 3 arranged at a ball track, and a retainer 4 retaining the torque transmitting ball 3. The outside member 1 is comprised of a surface hardened by induction hardening graphite steel and a core forming a two phase structure of ferrite and martensite. The basic component of the graphite steel is C: 0.5 to 0.7%, Si: 0.4 to 2.0%, Mn: 0.4 to 1.5%, S: 0.025% or less, P: 0.02% or less, Al: 0.01 to 0.1%, B: 0.001 to 0.004%, N: 0.002 to 0.008%, and the rest is comprised of Fe and unavoidable impurities.
