PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polylactic acid based resin composition which has high melt tension and can expect an improvement of processability. SOLUTION: This polylactic acid based resin composition can be obtained by melt kneading 0.01-20 pts.wt. aromatic isocyanate compound with 100 pts.wt. polylactic acid component having a weight average molecular weight Mw of 50,000-500,000 in an extruding machine to effect reaction, and the area ratio of a component having a weight average molecular weight of not smaller than 3,000,000 in terms of the weight average molecular weight of the standard polystyrene in the GPC chromatogram to the area of the total components is 1-10%.
