PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain and secure vehicle travelling in the case when input torque to a transmission is lowered on a control device of the automatic transmission to change a speed changing characteristic in accordance with travelling resistance of a vehicle. SOLUTION: This control device is furnished with a control unit 300 to make it easy for a low speed stage region to enter a climbing-up mode to use a speed changing characteristic for a climbing-up road where a low speed stage region is extended by correcting estimated road surface inclination to be a large value, correcting a threshold value which is a comparative object with this road surface inclination to be a small value, etc., at the time of a specific driving state when output torque to an engine and input torque to a transmission are lowered such as the time when suction air temperature of the engine is high, when ambient pressure is low, etc. Favourable travelling is maintained and realized by cobering power shortage of the engine at the time of the specific driving state.
