<p>A sealing and cutting device for use in making transverse seals in a tubular web on a form, fill and seal packaging machine and cutting the web at the location of the seals comprises a rotatable sealing jaw 52 carried by a shaft 56 and a blade 54 which is arranged to rotate with the sealing jaw. The blade is movable relative to the sealing jaw so as to cut the web by slicing. The cutting device may comprise a cam mechanism (70, Figure 3) for actuating the cutting blade 54 and providing both a movement in a lengthwise and radial direction of the respective sealing jaw 52, movement caused by the cam being transferred to the blade 54 by a series of linkages 96, 100, 102.</p> |
