PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove acicular bone fragments from material to be screened such as shavings of dried bonito or flakes of dried bonito. SOLUTION: A cylindrical body 1 is formed of a perforated plate 4 having long slots 5 in the circumferential direction. A central shaft 6 of the cylindrical body 1 is inclined and flanges 7, 9 provided in the upper and lower parts of the cylindrical body 1 are supported by grooved pulleys 13, 14 respectively. A pinion 18 provided on the shaft of a geared motor 17 is engaged with an annular rack provided on the perimeter of the cylindrical body 1 to rotate it. Material to be screened is fed into the cylindrical body 1 from a feeding chute 19 provided at the upper end of the cylindrical body 1. Products from which acicular bone fragments have been removed are taken out from a discharge chute 21 provided at the lower end of the cylindrical body 1. The bone fragments which have passed through the long slots 5 are collected by an acicular matter discharge chute 44 provided below the outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical body 1.
