Disclosed are novel 5,11-dihydro-6H-dipyrido¢3,2-b; 2', 3'-a!¢1,4! diazepin-6-ones of the formula I (see formula I) wherein, R1 and R2 are the same or different and are hydrogen or straight or branched alkyl of 1 to 5 carbon atoms. These are useful for the prevention or treatment of AIDS.
