PURPOSE: A reference hole is provided to improve performance of an engine and to reduce exhaust emission by enhancing combustion efficiency of an engine through reduction of an assembling clearance. CONSTITUTION: Hollow core dowel pins interferingly fitted into screw holes formed in the upper face of a cylinder block are diagonally placed. Plural reference holes(10) are diagonally formed in the lower face of a cylinder head(60) opposed to the dowel pins. An assembling clearance of 0.5m to 1mm is formed in one of the reference holes. According to the clearance of the reference hole, horizontal and vertical assembling clearances are minimized.
