PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition coil for internal combustion engine and a method for manufacturing it, wherein a structure of superior durability and reliability is provided. SOLUTION: An ignition coil 14 comprises a center core 17, side core, secondary coil 20, primary coil, igniter, and terminal, etc., provided in a case. A magnet 24 is provided on both ends of the center core 17, and a stress-relaxing material (rubber boot) 25 is provided so as to coat the periphery of the magnet 24 and center core 17 itself. A secondary bobbin 26 houses the center core 17, magnet 24, and stress-relaxing material 25. For the stress-relaxing material 25, its one end is formed into a closed bag-form (boot-like), while an outside vicinity 25C of the closed end part is beveled into an arc form so that its longitudinal cross-section has a prescribed curvature.
