PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device which embodies the reduction in the size and thickness of the device, attains energy conservation, does not impart an odd feel to a user and has excellent visibility. SOLUTION: This display device includes phosphorescent glass 6a and 6b which are capable of storing and releasing light, an organic electroluminescence element 8 which is arranged behind the phosphorescent glass 6a and 6b and executes light emission of approximately the same color tones as the color tones of the phosphorescent glass 6a and 6b and a CPU 1 which controls the light emission of the organic electroluminescence element 8.
