PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile transmission/reception method capable of making transmission time shorter than a normal procedure for six or more seconds in changing a transmission mode in the middle of plural pages even without an ECM(error correction mode) function. SOLUTION: A tone 102 is produced simultaneously with a PPS-EOM signal (or EOM signal) 101, an NSS (DCS) signal and a TCF signal are continued after receiving a CFR signal 103 and thus, picture information (PIX2) after mode change is transmitted upon receiving CFR. As the other methods, there are the method of omitting the TCF signal in the procedure and the method of transmitting the picture information after the NSS signal and the TCF signal or after the NSS signal or a CTC signal without transmitting the tone by providing an inter-page mode change shortening control presence/absence informing bit in an NSF signal and the NSS signal (non-standard function setting).
