PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolytic solution for a middle and high voltage with a high spark voltage and satisfactory high temperature service life characteristics. SOLUTION: This electrolytic solution for an electrolytic capacitor is obtained by doping protein group carboxylic acid compounds, whose total number of carbon is 13-17 or the salt to electrolytic solution obtained by dissolving one kind or two kinds or more of boron poly-alcohol complex shown in a formula or the salt in a solvent using ethylene glycol as main components. Thus, a spark voltage can be made high, and high temperature long service life characteristics can be made satisfactory. Therefore, it is possible to obtain an electrolytic capacitor, in which breakdown voltage and overvoltage characteristics is made satisfactory, and capacity changes or tanδchange after a service life test can be reduced, and service life characteristics can be made satisfactory by using the electrolytic solution. In formula, R1 indicates an alkyl group in which the number of carbon is 1-4 or a hydrogen atom, and one of R2 and R3 is a methyl group and the other is a hydrogen atom.
