PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solar cell which can generate electric power during the use of display function and is essentially transparent and high efficient by using the battery overlapping with a display element and a self-power supplying display element providing with solar cell, and a method of manufacturing the solar cell. SOLUTION: A solar cell has an optical semiconductor layer, which is transparent to a visible radiation having a ratio of absorbency of 0.8 or lower at 400 nm or longer and shorter than 800 nm, and a transparent conductive film, on a transparent conductive substrate in this order. In this case, it is preferable that the optical semiconductor layer contains one or more elements selected from among group IIIA and one or more elements selected from among group VA in the periodic table and contains a metal oxide semiconductor. Moreover, it is preferable that the metal oxide semiconductor is titanium oxide or zinc oxide and that the optical gap of the optical semiconductor layer is 2.8 eV or higher. |
