PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shutoff valve opening switch structure of a microcomputer gas meter which allows consumers to easily make sure the position of a valve opening switch even during the night, etc., and to operate the valve opening switch without mistakes. SOLUTION: In this shutoff valve opening switch structure for a microcomputer gas meter, a parting wall parting the inside of a gas meter main body into a primary and a secondary flow passages is provided inside the gas meter main body and a communication port communicating the primary flow passage to the secondary flow passage is provided in the parting wall. A bi-directional shutoff valve for opening and closing the communication port in response to electric signals is provided. An illuminated switch 13 which is switched on and illuminated when the bi-directional shutoff valve is closed and which can open the bi-directional shutoff valve when switched on is provided inside the gas meter main body and a pushbutton part 14 whereby the illuminated switch 13 can be turned on is provided on the part of the gas meter main body opposite to the illuminated switch 13, at least a portion of the pushbutton part 14 allowing light of the illuminated switch 13 to be passed to the outside.
