PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To securely back up data stored in a memory provided in the transmission and reception device by using a volatile memory even in a long-period power break. SOLUTION: The transmission and reception device is equipped with at least an image information memory 12 composed of a volatile memory which stores image information, etc., an operation display part 14, a printing part 18, a scanner 19, and a transmission and reception control part 16 where a communication control part 20 for transmission and reception is connected through a data bus line 21. A main power circuit 41 supplies electric power to power necessitating parts by the indication of the control part 16 and a switching control part 40 detects a power break to supply backup electric power 42. The transmission and reception control part 16, once receiving the indication from the switching control part 40 owing to the power break, backs up the data stored in the image memory by performing transfer to another previously registered transmission and reception device through an operation display part 14 and saving the data at the transfer destination so as to evade a failure in backing up the data by the backup power source 42.
