PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a fluorescent character display tube that can restrain thermal deformation of a frame caused by a getter flash without complicating the manufacturing processes. SOLUTION: A getter 38 (and a getter support part) is formed on an frame 42 integrated with one side support frame 42, and is so arranged on a board 12 so that the intermediate part of them is positioned outside a vacuum container, and the board 12 is sealed with a spacer and thereafter, they are separated from each other by cutting a connection part 44 located at their intermediate part. Thereby, since the getter 38 is integrated with the one side supporting frame 30b in the stage where it is installed in the vacuum container, the process is not complicated as compared with a conventional one where the getter 38 is formed on the support frame 30b. On the other hand, since they are separated from each other by being cut after seal, the heat of the getter 38 is not transmitted to the support frame 30b at the time of a getter flash.
