The cotyloidal implant cup has a circular edge and a radial slot (1b) which open into a central bore (1c). The slot has recesses (1d-e) to allow elastic deformation of the cup to allow a locking action when the bore is closed by an impactor instrument. The elasticity of the cup remains the same independently of the presence of the impactor.
