PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic ice making machine to reduce a quantity of water used for melting ice. SOLUTION: A return groove 26 extending along a second ice making water passage and a water jet hole 25 formed in the bottom of the return groove are formed above a second ice making water passage 23 of an upper wall member 24 of a water tray. A part of ice making water jetted through a water jetting hole is frozen up in an ice making small chamber 33 but unfrozen water drops on a water tray and is returned to an ice making tank through the return groove. Since the return groove is formed such that sufficient unfrozen water is more apt to constantly flow compared with a conventional return hole, freezing up in the groove hardly occurs. Even when water is slightly frozen up, it is apt to melt by a consecutive flow of unfrozen water, and even during completion of ice making, no ice grows in the return groove. This constitution eliminates a need for water for melting ice to be conventionally needed for melting of ice and reduces an amount of using water.
