The step bearer is fixed to a supporting arm (20) itself clamped to the building profile (2) by strap (30), using interposed clamp block (36) and screws (40) to press the arm (20) to the building profile specified (2). The strap (30) is passed round the profile (2) and arm (20) and should include a clamp wedge and the arm has a contact sector (24) bearing on the profile (2) plus a supporting sector (22) running transverse to the contact section (24). The step bearer is fixed to the support section (22) by fasteners comprizing a pocket (12) in the bearer plate (7) and screws (14,15) working into the support section (22).
