The slab production process involves using a mold (7) in which a first (surface) layer (8) of fine concrete is laid. The second (underside) layer (9) of coarse concrete is then added. Before the first layer is laid, at least one insert (6) is laid. When the concrete has set, the slab blank has a top surface formed from the insert, which is polished.
