Biological break down of sewage sludge accelerated by prior exposure to low-frequency magnetic field

In a process and assembly to break down organic substances especially sewage sludge, the sludge is exposed for 1 to 20 minutes to an electromagnetic field with a frequency of 1 to 1000 Hz. The magnetic flux density is less than 1 Telsa and preferably in the range 40 to 80 mT. The exposure to the magnetic field takes place in a chamber made of non-magnetic material. The magnetic process is applied to the sewage sludge prior to the biological treatment break down process.
