The arrangement determines the mechanical power of the sportsman by simultaneously measuring the force and speed of the drive chain (1). The chain passes over pulleys (2-4) so that a component of the chain force is present at one of the pulley bearings and acts on a flexural beam whose deformation is measured by strain gauges.
