KEYPAD FOR CELLULAR PHONE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THEREOF

PURPOSE: A keypad for a cellular phone and a method for manufacturing the keypad are provided to shorten the time required for manufacture and to prevent the simultaneous depression of adjacent keys in the keypad. CONSTITUTION: A front housing(22) of a cellular phone is provided apertures(24) corresponding to keys(17) in a keypad, and the keys(17) are inserted into the respective apertures(24) upon assembly thereof. A printed circuit board(26) is disposed below the keys(17). A lower end of the printed circuit board(26) is hooked to hooking thresholds formed at both sides of the front housing(22) and an upper side of the printed circuit board(26) is contacted with supporting stands formed integrally on the front housing(22), thereby keeping the printed circuit board(26) in a fixed state. The movement of the keypad is prevented by fitting the supporting stands into fixing holes(20) formed in the keypad. A contacting protrusion formed on each of the keys(17) surface-contacts with a dome switch(32) installed on the printed circuit board(26). It is preferable to make the dome switch(32) of a material having elastic and restoring force. The portions between the keys(17) contact with bottom portions between the apertures(24) of the front housing(22), so that the keypad is fixed in the front housing(22).
