PURPOSE: A method for transmitting a structured energy to the surface of materials is provided with using an electron beam and enabling to impinge upon minuscule surface sections, i.e. pixel, with a given arrangement on the surface in order to achieve certain effects. CONSTITUTION: In a method for a structured energy transmission, the object to be impinged upon, such as a glass substrate(1) having pixels(3), is moved contact-free under a mask(6). A bidimensional deflectable electron beam(9), which oscillates at a high frequency perpendicular to the direction of movement of the object(1), is moved along a groove(8,8') in the mask(6), the speed being essentially faster than that of the movement of the object(1). The method can be used for processing any material, preferably plane or band-shaped objects, in order to achieve processing effects by means of physical or chemical reaction.
