PURPOSE: A method for encoding and decoding image is provided to reduce calculation amount as well as the size of the image in order to shorten the encoding and decoding time. CONSTITUTION: A method for encoding and decoding image includes following steps. At the first step, input images are compressed at a reference ratio. At the second step, the status of communication line is detected. At the third step, the traffic of the line and the compressed image amount are compared. At the forth step, whether the image is to be down sampled is determined. At the fifth step, the down sampling is performed when the image is to be down sampled. At the sixth step, information indicating the down sampling is generated. |
