PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure high resistance to wear and mechanical stress and superior catalytic activity by combining submicron particles of a zeolite with a ligand obtained by acid-hydrolysis of a silicon alkoxide when a catalyst based on an MFI type zeolite compound and a siliceous ligand is produced. SOLUTION: When a catalyst suitable for use in the conversion of an oxime to an amide and based on an MFI type zeolite compound and a siliceous ligand is produced, submicron particles of a zeolite are combined with a ligand obtained by acid-hydrolysis of a silicon alkoxide. The MFI type zeolite compound is preferably silicalite-1 or a zeolite in which the molar ratio between Si and Al or other hetero atom selected from B, Ga, In and Ti is >1,000. The catalyst is preferably produced by a spray drying method. The resulting catalyst has high resistance to wear and mechanical stress and superior catalytic activity.
