PURPOSE: A timer for microwave oven and a microwave oven adopting such a timer are provided to achieve an enhanced operation of the microwave oven while allowing a perpendicularity between a timer axis and conversion axis. CONSTITUTION: A timer for microwave oven comprising a timer unit(4) having a timer axis(2) for setting a cooking time and an output setting unit(6) for setting an output for cooking food by operating a conversion axis(5) for converting a timing of a periodically operating body rotated by a motor, wherein the timer axis(2) and the conversion axis(5) are fixed to a case(10) which is an assembly of upper and lower cases, the case(10) having a space therein for a plane arrangement of an oven cooking switch at a side surface of the conversion axis(5) and a grill cooking switch at another side surface of the conversion axis(5).
