A Fourdrinier wire belt for a paper-making machine has warp threads laid in pairs, and is so woven that each weft strand passes under two pairs of warps and over one pair of warps at each undulation. The knuckles of the weft strands on the one surface are thus forced down during weaving into a plane below that of the warp knuckles, whereas the knuckles of both warps and wefts on the other side form a substantially plane papersupporting surface. The weft strands may be of greater diameter than the warps.</p> |
