<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the new structure of a theft preventing device to be attached on a steering column by preventing a bolt from being pushed into a casing in a state for preventing the rotation of the steering column. SOLUTION: This device prevents rotating parts on a steering column of an automobile from rotating. A rotating lock 18 is attached by casings 14, 16. It can rotate between a locking position of the rotating lock 18 in which insert and taking out work of keys 26, 30 to and from axial direction is possible and a locked position in which taking out work is impossible. The lock 18 controls rotational protruded parts 34 forming a cam for axial movement of bolts 50, 78 together with control fingers 111, 64 supported by the bolts 50, 78. When these bolts are in a theft preventing position, these bolts support the locking finger 110 proceeding to a locking recess formed at the side of the protruded part. When the key is pulled out, the bolts are held at retreat position and pressed elastically by a movement restricting means 92. Thereby, the rotation of rotating parts on the steering column can be locked.</p> |
