ELECTROMAGNETIC SHIELDING ASSEMBLY FOR CONTINUOUS CASTING MOLD

PURPOSE: An electromagnetic shielding assembly for a continuous casting mold is provided to enhance an induced electromagnetic field within the mold and further to minimize generation of the heat of the mold. CONSTITUTION: A continuous casting mold includes a mold(1), a high-frequency coil(2) wound on the mold(1) to generate both an induced electromagnetic field and a joule heat, a mold box(3) installed outside the mold(1) to protect the mold(1), and an electromagnetic shielding plate(4) attached onto inside wall of the mold box(3). In particular, the continuous casting mold further includes an electromagnetic shielding assembly(4-1) surrounding the high-frequency coil(2) within the mold box(3). Preferably, both the electromagnetic shielding plate(4) and the electromagnetic shielding assembly(4-1) are made of diamagnetic and conductive material such as aluminum or copper, and has a thickness of about two millimeters. Besides, epoxy including metal powder is used for attaching the electromagnetic shielding plate(4) onto the mold box(3).
