Manufacture of paving bricks 'on edge' i.e. in their in-use orientation so that adjusting base of mold determines depth of paving

Bricks destined for paving use are baked 'on edge' instead of flat. Each mold (2) has an adjustable base (3) so that the short dimension of the brick, and hence the depth of paving, can be predetermined. Profiling, tapering, rounding and surface finish are adapted to suit the appearance and durability of the surface.
