PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyphenylene ether resin composition that is excellent in impact resistance, tensile elongation and surface hardness and besides has good processability. SOLUTION: A polyphenylene ether resin composition comprises (A) either a polyphenylene ether or a polyphenylene ether and a styrene resin, and anα-olefin-aromatic vinyl compound random copolymer, wherein (B) a ratio by weight of a polyphenylene ether: a styrene resin is 1:99-100:0 and (C) a ratio by weight of the sum of a polyethylene ether and a styrene resin; anα-olefin- aromatic vinyl compound random copolymer is 95:5-60:40. As anα-olefin- aromatic vinyl compound random copolymer, the one having a chain of aromatic vinyl compound units and the one further having an isotactic stereoregularity are preferred.
