PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of an oxide superconducting wire rod capable of improving in critical current density with no need for processes of positive tape work. SOLUTION: In a manufacturing method of an oxide superconducting wire rod having a plurality of oxide superconducting core filaments 1 and a metal coat 2 covering the oxide superconducting core filaments 1, n pieces (n=2 to 12) of wires in an approximately round shape in a cross section having one or plurality of the oxide superconducting core filaments 1 and the metal coat 2 are symmetrically and adjacently disposed and is machined to shrink its diameter so that a part of the wire is made to flow in the space formed with two pieces of wire surfaces adjacent to a phantom cylindrical inner face contacting n pieces of wire surfaces.
