PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel phosphodiesterase enzyme that comprises a specific amino acid sequence or a specific mutant, can evaluate and screen the factors that modulate the activity of phosphodiesterase and is useful for diagnosis and treatment of diseases. SOLUTION: This is a novel phosphodiesterase enzyme having the amino acid sequence represented by the formula or the like or its mutants, homologues, fragments or derivatives and is useful for evaluating and/or screening the factors that can modulate the activity of phosphodiesterase and is used in the diagnosis and the treatment for a variety of diseases. This novel phosphodiesterase enzyme is prepared by using rat embryo cDNA library or human embryo brain cDNA library or the like and screening them by the PCR technique with the primer including these partial sequences and expressing the resultant gene in the host cells of an insect or the like by using the baculovirus expression system. |
