PURPOSE: A bridging process method in a private branch exchange is provided to permit a bridging function between one extension subscriber, requesting a bridging, and another extension subscriber under a state of a call waiting by certifying the rates of both the extension subscribers. CONSTITUTION: A bridging process method in a private branch exchange comprises steps of determining if one called extension subscriber phone is busy(202) in case that the subscriber phone is called by another extension subscriber(201), determining if a call waiting function is set at the called subscriber phone in case that the called extension subscriber phone is busy(207), informing the calling phone that the called phone is busy(209) if the call waiting function is not set(209), determining if a bridging function is requested from the calling phone in case that the call waiting function is set(211), determining if a bridging function is possible in the called phone in case that the bridging function is requested from the calling phone(213), determining if another extension subscriber phone in connection with the called extension phone has a bridging function(215), releasing the call waiting of the called phone if the extension subscriber phone in connection with the called phone has the bridging function(217), and permitting the bridging function(219).
