PURPOSE: A virtual base station system is provided to optimize base station resources by being operated as various base station figures, according to a substantial operating environment as using a same base station hardware. CONSTITUTION: A virtual base station system has many base stations(504-1,504-a,504-m), control stations(502-1,502-n), and a base station manager(BSM)(501). The control stations manage the base stations. The BSM manages entire base station systems. The virtual base station system groups predetermined frequency assignments(FAs) of the base stations into one group, and forms many groups to allocate each logical optional base station identifier to each of the groups. The optional base station identifiers, FA identifiers, sector identifiers are stored in the control stations or the BSM. Messages are processed by stored base station information. Each of the base stations has an address conversion table for mapping the logical base station identifiers, the FA identifiers, the sector identifiers with original FA identifiers and original sector identifiers. The logical base station identifiers, the FA identifiers, the sector identifiers and original physical FA identifiers, the original sector identifiers are mutually converted by control processors of the base stations. The virtual base station system has a remote radio frequency(RF) device connected with the base stations through transmission media performs a RF conversion and an amplifying function.
