PURPOSE: A method for dynamically assigning a communication switch port between processing in an ATM exchange, is provided to prevent limiting an inter process communication(IPC) switch port to a specific port, and to obtain IPC routes between an ATM center subsystem(ACS) and an ATM local subsystem(ALS), maximumly, by enabling of shifting IPC routing information according to a state of the IPC switch port with operating a system. CONSTITUTION: A method for dynamically assigning a communication switch port between processing in an ATM exchange, comprises the steps of: detecting an obstacle of an inter process communication(IPC) switch port between an ATM center subsystem(ACS) and an ATM local subsystem(ALS); detecting whether a switch port which is not assigned a minimal band or a band in a call band width managing library; assigning the minimal band switch port to a new IPC port; and assigning the IPC port generated the obstacle, to a user cell port.
